End of Production at Audiomat

2026/04/17

Here’s news that will sadden many of our loyal customers, bring relief to quite a few competitors, and even delight a few naysayers: as first announced some ten years ago, Audiomat manufacturing will cease in September. The two Clarisse brothers are taking a well-earned retirement.

It has been a wonderful collaboration for me since 1989. There was distribution in several European countries, then in Canada and the United States, and as Audiomat France was not producing enough to meet our needs in North America and Asia, it even extended to the manufacture of Audiomat products in Quebec until my semi-retirement in 2008.

Thirty-seven years of bringing immense satisfaction to music lovers! I’ve kept hundreds of emails received from all over, and to bid farewell to the brand, I’ve posted on our website a text by Patrick Teasdale.
He is a Quebec customer who last year purchased an Aria integrated amplifier and a Tempo 2.9 DAC after no less than 50 years of searching!

Audiomat will have no “sequel”. The brothers have made it clear they do not want to risk the brand’s reputation being tarnished by inferior manufacturing. And in any case, the tiny profit margins Audiomat operates on could not have continued. A veritable price explosion would have ensued.

As for Mutine, it’s unlikely that I’ll be interested in any other brand of tube amplifiers, and so there won’t be a “clearance sale” on Audiomat products. On the contrary, I am keeping back as much of the remaining stock as possible. I hope to help music lovers build the famous “Mutine systems”, with their exceptional synergy, and also help my long-time customers complete their systems.

Products no longer available:

- Arpège Référence 10

- D1 Drive

- Phono 1.7 Mk2

- Maestro 4 Référence

- Tempo C

Always consult us about availability at the time of placing an actual order. There is no point asking about stock in advance.

A quick reminder, for those who may be tempted to worry: new Audiomat products

• always come with a full two-year warranty.

• have one of the lowest failure rates in the world, i.e. about 0.4% for new products. (The used market is a different story, as failures depend mainly on how the previous owner treated the equipment.)

• never use “exotic” components.

• as a result, are repairable for life. We once repaired one of the very first Audiomats, which dated back to around 1982.

• our two service centers in Canada and the U.S. are still running.

Yours musically,

Pascal
